Hi Mike, I'm trying to catch up with the list, so sorry for the late reply!
I was in a similar situation to yours 4 years ago (wedges falling down below) and also went for Spartite. I really like the solution and wouldn't go back to wood wedges. After four years, the spartite is still sound and strong.
