If you understand adding and subtracting vectors (true wind, boat speed, potentially current and drift), there is nothing simpler.

Most visible close hulled or dead down. Broad reaching you probably won't see too much. You probably just didn't compare when the two wind speeds at the right time. Just as important, if not more so, is wind angle (app vs. true). Josh
