Aren't the last digits on the transom when it was built? Wouldn't it be a 39, number 60, built in late '73 and registered as a 74? The cockpit plate is just documenting that and the number molded in the hull would be the 'official' one.... Maybe the plate was installed on a cold Monday. My boat has a hand written number on the inside of the hull - port side - aft area in my lazerette and glassed over, as well as the molded one on the transom. Yours may also, but I'll bet you have an aft bunk which would hide it.

Subject: Stus-List Which is my boat?

I am trying to ensure that my paperwork is in order. And of course I noticed a discrepancy in the serial number in different documents. So I thought I would go to the source, namely the boat. However, the boat does not seem to agree with itself. According to the hull, the boat's serial number is 390600773. According to the C&C plate in the cockpit however the serial number is 39006074.

See the pictures here: http://www.cruisingnet.com/cc.html

Looking back through the documentation I have going way back to 1974, I have some documents that list one number, while others list the other.

Anyone have any ideas?

Kind Regards,
