I have used a pair of Steiner's Commander model for years. I especially
appreciate its ability to gather image in low light. They have survived many a
wet passage without moisture issues. I do keep them out of the hot sun or
severe wet when not in use. I insist that any crew who dares to use them put
the floating strap behind their neck and be sure if the Steiner's go overboard
they are attached.

Calypso's co-owner has used several higher tech binos from Fuji and another
company. Both suffered from wet and rough conditions but performed well when
new. Both bino's fancy electronic compasses had performance issues where the
Steiner's old fashion compass has only required an occasion new battery for the
night light.

Subject: Stus-List Binoculars

All,

I'm looking to buy a good pair of binoculars without breaking the bank (less
than $300.) Nikon, Bushnell and Steiner all have 7 x 50 glasses that are
within my budget.

If you have used the Nikon OceanPro, Bushnell or "cheap" Steiners can you let
me know if you are happy with them?

Thanks

Joel
