Here on the Chesapeake, sea nettles abound for most of the summer, and they are
a constant threat to my engine water intake. This is particularly true when I
am getting ready to leave the dock.

On my 30MKII, the engine intake is completely "naked", i.e., no protection
against drawing in a sea nettle, or any kind of debris. There's simply a small
orifice directly into the marelon seacock. It's not unusual to find debris in
the onboard strainer.

I am considering installing a bronze strainer to mitigate the risk. I would
appreciate any feedback on what, if anything, others have done to address this
problem.

Thanks,

Pete W.
