Kyle,
Spindle? Look at the link Josh sent you and make sure we're all talking about
the same parts. Try a carpenter's knife (5 in 1 knife) to free the spindle.
Slide the sharp edge under and gently tap it. The spindle should move.
Look under the winch for the main shaft. Often, dried grease will "glue" the
splines together. Try tapping it from underneath. It should only be held in
by the retaining ring which you have already removed.
