Hello all
I have a question for this list. During a sail on Sunday I used the boat's
main radio to call another boat for a weather report (they were about 5
miles South of me) and they replied that my set was weak and barely readable.
This set is an I-Com M59 so I though that maybe it was set to low power,
but no so I switched in the amplifier (150 watt Henry that we used in the
SORC days when well off shore) the contact said that they could hear me by
still very weak. Long story short, the 12 vdc contact was loose and the
transmitter was not receiving the full amperage required to properly transit.
Reception was not an issue as that work perfectly. Fixed the problem now the
radio works just fine.
The question is:
While wondering about the issue, I thought that I would simply disconnect
the antenna and use the handheld adaptor and plug into the mast head
antenna, but then noticed that the adaptor is for the old type hand held with
the
twist lock antenna, both of the hand held I-Com radios on the boat use the
screw in antennas. I have looked at every source that I can locate for an
adaptor that will work with the new sets. No luck. Any ideas?
