Have you stuck your finger in and tasted it to make sure it's sea water? It might be rainwater coming down the mast.

You said the stern section was dry which would indicate it’s not the stuffing box but just saying in case. Sometimes a stuffing box will take time in the water to swell after long winter storage. I know him well and trust him that he doesn't recall a grouding either. I know I haven't grounded it in the week I've had it in the water...
