Dennis

I had that same water heater (both engine coolant heated and electrical when
there was a power hookup, but on my 35 MKII it was mounted under the shelf
in the port cockpit. I found that having the hot water tank mounted high,
just below the shelf like that caused airlocks in the system and the cooling
water pump from the engine was not able to push the hot coolant uphill and
through the hot water tank coil to where it would be useful waste heat to
use to heat water in the hot water tank. I installed a gate valve in the
main coolant line to the heat exchanger and that worked to some extent
forcing hot coolant into the hot water tank loop but under high power
requirements, like motoring into a headwind and big waves I was unable to
drive my engine hard without overheating, even with the valve full open to
the heat exchanger I think because the orifice reduction produced just by
having the opened valve in line was sufficient to prevent adequate flow
through the heat exchanger. I am in the process of installing my hot water
tank lower down close to the hull in that same locker which means that all
of my fenders will sit on top of it and it will be in the way even more when
I have to squeeze down into that locker to do work, like on the rudder
quadrant or the manual bilge pump or the electrical panel for the engine
etc. But I think it will work better as a water heater in that location
because the inlet and outlet lines for the coolan will be more or less on
the same plain as the outlet and returns on the engine.

Kyle,

Touche' has a 26 gallon bladder tank under the aft seat of the dinette where
the original fiberglass rigid tank was. I have a ParMate pump and
accumulator mounted just outboard of the tank in the same compartment.
There is a small strainer located there as well.

One creative spot for you to look at for additional tankage is to put a
bladder tank between the hull and liner outboard of the hanging locker.

If I was to add a water heater, I would consider the round Isotemp Slim 15
round water heater mounted under the shelf in the starboard cockpit locker.

I am hoping to gain some knowledge on the C&C 35 mk1 plumbing of fresh water
system. I would like to know where folks may have place additional water
tanks and what they best way to heat and pressurize the system would be.
Currently there is a smallish tank on the port side in space below the
tables bench seat.

Has anyone used a bladder in this boat and if so what size and where did
they locate it.

Thanks
