I think at some point the bottom needs to be stripped and started fresh. I
think the areas like you're seeing may be your first signs that it might time
for your boat. However, you could simply sand and feather it and coat it with
bottom paint.I've actually just asked the yard for a quote on stripping,
Barrier coating and Bottom Painting... If it isn't too frightening I may just
go for it this year. If it is too much I'll touch up, paint and splash and
worry next year... I'm not really 100% sold on barrier coat necessity but, I do
tend to try over-fix stuff...LOL DannyLolita1973 Viking 33Westport Point, MA

Subject: Stus-List primer on unpainted gelcoat

A couple of areas (a few square inches) on the hull of Cat's Paw just below the
waterline are completely bare: no antifouling paint and no primer either - just
bare gelcoat. What do CC'ers recommend for a primer to coat these spots? How
many coats? And then what primer should go over that to make a good base for
the antifouling paint (I use Micron 66)?
