I advised you to remove that tank, take the hose off the muffler and take it home and stretch it...there are no miracle solutions here, it is hard work, thought you had hired someone. It would definitely help if you removed that tank!

There's no way I could use an angle grinder down there to take the 'lip' off.....I need the use of two hands to use the grinder properly/safely.....I can't position myself with the room, or lack thereof, to do that. I have a hot water tank in the port lazarette that further restricts the access to the engine compartment. The idea of a 'tail pipe expander' might be the solution....it's only $20....after what I went through yesterday and the way parts of my body feel today, I would gladly pay another $20 to bring this boat project to a conclusion.
