Wal, I can sympathize. I've had similar experiences. Holiday weekend. Late arrival. Last available slip. Nearest alternative probably 40 NM away on the other side of the sound.
I was busy concentrating on backing the IOR stern into the slip when this scraping squeak notified me that the boat would only fit into the slip with one rubrail (Now the widest part of the boat. Long Story.) rubbing on one piling and 2-3" between the rubrail and piling on the other side. We ended up tying up to the outer part of the slip in order to position the max beam in the gap between pilings. Rick -----Original Message----- From: CnC-List [mailto:cnc-list-boun...@cnc-list.com] On Behalf Of Wally Bryant I have, actually, fit my boat into a space that only a moron would try, but in my defense it was the middle of night and I was really tired. I woke up the next morning and looked at the 6 inches of room on either side and said to the onlookers 'How the heck did I do that?' It's amazing what you can do when you have to.
