Rick - I think LF38s are different.

To answer your question: My HIN is CCY38090M81E. My documentation shows my beam as 12.2 feet.

I have heard conflicting stories as to whether the LF38 hull was modified from a 38 hull mold or a 40 hull mold. It was definitely made from an existing mold, and when the light is right I can show you the line where the old mold was modified. (Note, the light has to be *just right*, and I've only seen it a few times over the last 12 years.)

Maybe someone who has personally heard the answer from Rob Ball can give me the definitive answer. Not that I really care, but it's always nice to know.

Now, when speaking with a marina on the radio, when trying to arrange a slip, I say my beam is 16 feet. I used to say it was 'about 13 feet' but that runs the risk of some marina operator deciding that there's 14 feet of room between the dock and the next boat, so he/she can fit me in there. I have, actually, fit my boat into a space that only a moron would try, but in my defense it was the middle of night and I was really tired. I woke up the next morning and looked at the 6 inches of room on either side and said to the onlookers 'How the heck did I do that?' It's amazing what you can do when you have to.

If you have a 38 or LF38, what is your HIN and build date? And what do you
think the beam of your boat to be?
