I had a similar issue with the cracking right in the threads of the tank
exit which led to dripping, smell, mess and a demand from the Admiral.   I
solved as follows: bought a Cockpit drain fitting- 1-1/2- got one of the
'l-head' ones. These have the opening offset so when mounted horizontally
the opening is lower than a normal mushroom. Want to get every last drop.
Put a big bead of 5200 under the flange and pushed/threaded it through from
the inside and loosely tighten the nut - our tank has an access port on top.
(pump-out and clean out first) 5200 is not going to stick and hold to tank.
But if you work a big bead around and let it set up for days before final
tightening you are essentially just making a gasket. No magic in 5200 just
had it on hand. I would suspect any below water caulk/sealant would work.
Looks don't matter this is the inside of your holding tank so be generous.
Once it is almost firmly setup tighten the nut a little more from the
outside. Be sure the fitting itself doesn't turn you want the low point to
stay low in the tank.  Think you can find the drain fittings either threaded
or barbed. If you get threaded you'll have to add bits and pieces to convert
to barbed to work with hose. Be sure to use Teflon tape etc to insure tight
fit if extra bits are used. Get the hose on and clamped then final tighten
the nut on the drain fitting. Don't over tighten and squeeze all the 5200
out- actually if you let it set up properly you shouldn't be able to. This
has held for several years now without incident- all for less than $20.
Obviously this only works if the cracks are right at the fitting and are
covered by the flange on the fitting and nut.
