Since the only option I had today was a bench mounted wire wheel I was able to clean up several parts...not too bad, just a little time consuming.

There's no substitute for elbow grease here.  The 3M adhesive removers will help but there will still be a lot of effort involved.  Starbrite adhesive removers seem to be a bit less powerful the the 3M brand.  I've used 3M 08984 liquid and 38983 spray.  The liquid seems to work better but I wouldn't call it a silver buller by any means.

I will be starting the process of removing old bedding compound from (what looks like) 152,000 pieces of deck hardware in my garage this week.  Is there a silver bullet process - heat, mechanical, chemical that works best??
