Harry,

There's no substitute for elbow grease here.  The 3M adhesive removers will 
help but there will still be a lot of effort involved.  Starbrite adhesive 
removers seem to be a bit less powerful the the 3M brand.  I've used 3M 08984 
liquid and 38983 spray.  The liquid seems to work better but I wouldn't call it 
a silver buller by any means.
