Welcome to the list.  As for the rudder I have no doubt that you could do
the work yourself however I'm not sure you could do it as well as the
professionals.  There is also a good likelihood that your time and effort
are worth more than the money saved.  I posted links a while ago to pics
for the rudder job on mine.  It came to just over $4200.  I have tremendous
confidence in the quality of the work.  You could certainly use the
pictures as a "guide" as what to expect and how to put it back together.
