We use barberhaulers on Resolute because the genoa tracks are so far inboard. I
keep the two 30' long 5/16" lines with a SS carabiner on one end, stowed inside
and rig them before sailing by clipping the carabiner to the upper lifeline,
run the tail outside of the lower lifeline, thru a snatchblock clipped to the
toerail, and back to the front end of the cockpit. I leave the snatchblocks
clipped on the toerail, w a small line tied to the lower lifleine to hold them
off the deck. We use one when sailing off the wind, broad reaching or deeper.
As the genoa clew approaches the lifelines, we unclip the barberhauler from the
lifeline, clip it to the genoa sheet bowline or clew cringle and tension it
while easing the normal sheet which remains rigged through the genoa car.

If we go wing and wing, one barberhauler can be used for the genoa and the
other can be used as a preventer on the boom. We tail them to cabintop winches.
The line can also be used to take the strain off the normal genoa sheet should
you need to remove an override.

We are very quick to rig on a Barber hauler on Touché. As soon as the sheet
starts touching the upper lifeline we're on it.

We use a snatch block on the toe rail. We locate it 1-2 holes aft of diredtly
under the sheet. The line has a snap shackle on the end for quick rig and
de-rig.
