I am looking forward to using my new genoa made from the Flex material.
Based on an earlier thread in this list, I went to Haarstick as well. As
Sylvain describes, the cross cut construction methods used make it a great
cost effective option for higher end sails. I found the price right in the
middle between Dacron and a North cruising laminate molded sail. I do plan
on racing with it, replacing some aging UK Tape Drives that came with the
boat. I dealt with Steve Haarstick himself, who spent a great deal of time
with us on the phone going over options and explaining his philosophy. He
helped me overcome my hesitation with dealing with a loft halfway across the
country. So far, I recommend the service, the sail is in the basement now
ready for hoisting once the snow clears around here.

Getting new sails is a great moment in life! :-)

I ordered a main and genoa from Haarstick this winter, first I asked for
pentex but Doug Burtner told me they don't offer pentex anymore ( They made
my Pentex 100% jib last year ).

You may want to check for FlexP, made by Dimension-Polyant, it's
multi-directional fiber make it unnecessary to cut a sail in tri-radial
fashion so they build it cross-cut and the saving made because of that make
it interesting for a high-end cruising laminate. They do win several races
though, and they tested the new material for 2 years.
