I agree with Edd. Try something nautical and feminine. Try the following
websites:

http://www.chartmetalworks.com/home Perhaps show the location of a
romantic weekend cruise

https://www.store-b4041.mybigcommerce.com/ Lots of compressed
carbon and shiny metal at David Virtue

http://www.mysticknotwork.com/ Lots of potential
casual gifts and boat décor

I bought one of the silver and gold Turk’s Head rings for my GF. The seller
does really good work at reasonable prices.

Maybe you could give her something like foulies to keep her dry and warm, if
you are really committed to boat gear – or perhaps something cuddly and soft
for cool nights on the boat.

But boat gear is not romantic . You’re likely to get a reaction similar to
that you’d get if you gave her a new vacuum cleaner for her birthday. You
might get away with an oversized self-tailing winch at Christmas (“Honey, I
wanted to make sailing easier for you.”) but not on Valentine’s Day.

Andrew,

If it must be boat related, would suggest looking for comforts
that she enjoys at home and find similar things that are boat-ready to make
cruising with you that much more comfortable. Such as:

                        1. A cushioned chair

                        2. TV tuner for an iPad

                        3. Bedding

                        4. Closet and storage space for her things.

None of these are romantic though -- in fact, I wouldn't try to
tie in the boat with Valentine's. As much as us guys love getting stainless
steel and carbon for our toys, never underestimate her desire for a much
more compressed form of carbon -- a diamond.

            All the best,

            Edd

That day all men dread is rolling around again. Now that we have a boat
together, gifting just to a whole lots easier. So now I'm looking for gift
ideas for the missus that she can use on the boat. A carbon spinnaker pole
is not in the budget, I think we have plenty of good sails, and the running
rigging is only a couple of years old, except the mainsheet, which I'm
thinking would be good to replace with Salsa line.
Any other ideas? I got her fender covers for Christmas and other than
getting he color wrong, they were a big hit.
