Our J/27 we just added an outer jib track. The forward tracks for #3
are on cabin top and provoide excellent pointing. However when wind
comes up boat becomes overpowered and one solution is using an
outhauler. We did what one or two other J27s have done and put a second
set of tracks on the side deck next to coach roof. This opens slot and
makes the boat behave much better in a big breeze. So to echo everyone
else here - in light air teh inner tracks are better for pointing.

On C&C 115 the tracks are on side decks next to coachroof but teh 115
comes with inhaulers which are becoming more prevalent in newer designs.
Same idea - we use the inhaulers with the #1 the get the most out of
that sail. With the #3 we sheet more outboard. ... of course the 115
has non overlapping headsails with max LP = 108% of J but the principle
is the same ....

Subject: Stus-List jib tracks

I have a 37 and have seen drawings with short jib tracks set forward on
the cockpit coaming, just inside and above the main jib tracks. I have
extra jib cars and track laying around and am considering adding these,
but have heard they really don't make a difference.

Do others use these? What size sail and wind speeds do they work best?
IE 150s and only light air?

Thanks,
