I think my question was ambiguous. He had a Catalina Tall Rig which (we
raced  successfully in JAM). He is now considering the C&C 30 Mk II.

In our area (Hudson River/Long Island Sound) the C&C 30 Mk II with the wing
rates 177 base whereas the Catalina Tall Rig rates 183 base.
