On the 4000+, there are rollers on either side of the motor gear. One of
them is adjusted by loosening the screw on the back of the wheel unit, then
turning the knob until you get the correct tension.

I read that some earlier versions just have a screw that does the same
function, but I don't have any first-hand knowledge of that.
