I don't know the reason, but I frequently have a problem with what appears to 
be only 1 blade opening and then a nasty vibration.By putting in reverse first, 
both blades open without problem and I can then shift to forward.Never shows

Why do you need to put the engine in reverse to open the prop?  The blades open 
easier and faster when you simply rev to the point centrifugal action opens the 
blades and they bite and open fully, provided the speed of the boat is slower 
than what it would be under power.
