I'm going to be flippant: "Man, you understand lighting?"

I've listened to this debate for so long that I am totally fatalistic
about it. Sheesh. My mast is keel stepped, onto an aluminum plate that
is bolted into my lead keel. I think that's the shortest path to ground.

Do this. Do that. I've tried wiring dead fish to my shrouds during
lightning events, but they would not come back to life, and certainly
tasted like old fish. Then I had a 'Bride of Frankenstein' epiphany and
starting wiring women up to the shrouds during weather events. Well,
whatever...

I shot a squirrel with a slingshot and lashed it to the Windex. I didn't
get hit by lightning. I found a new way to attract big bird droppings.

Heck, there once was the 'cone of protection' emanating from the top of
the mast to the water. Whatever happened to that?

Wal
