I have oft used the moorings in and around the islands for over 10 years...for
a few specific reasons;

I know and trust the local yards who maintain them,

It is cheap insurance when I go off exploring knowing that if the wind shifts
Corsair won't be bumpin' uglies with her neighbors, Its not my anchoring
techniques I worry about (I have never dragged in 40 + years) its the
neighboring boats anchoring skills,

I have not yet installed a roller. Damned thing, functional as it is, is just
ugly as hell for the few times I do anchor. In the meantime just suck it up
when we do anchor. I am looking into a removable install as the cro-magnum
approach to retrieval is getting old.

Again specific to the area...

Besides, who knows if you can really trust the mooring:

I do trust my ground tackle, because I inspect it every time I use it!
