I have 120' of chain and wish I had more, largely because I don't
have an elegant way to switch from chain to rode on my windlass. When
I come into a deep anchorage I'll circle around for ages to try to
find a spot with less than 30' depth so I can anchor with chain only.
I had to anchor in 70' in the BVI's last Christmas and I hated paying
out so much rode.

(The mathematicians are now calculating the scope I use and are
appalled that I'm not using anywhere near the 10:1 recommended in some
places. Yeah, well, that's a debate for a different thread)

Cheers
Colin
