I had a problem like that and ended up removing the strut and putting it
back in the right orientation, so the prop shaft was lined up with the
shaft log. Very ugly job. Part of an even bigger, uglier job. There was no
sign the strut had been bent, it was nicely bedded to the hull, it was just
pointing about an inch high, apparently from the factory.
