I have to connect my computer to the SHAW modem/router by cable rather than wirelessly because of problems with my nearly 7 year old computer. I get a message "cannot awaken MAC chip. I assume that this is a hardware problem that I consider not worth trying to fix.
Unfortunately I am moving and once moved I will only be able to connect to the modem/router wirelessly. I have an old linksys wrt54 router but as far as I can tell I cannot use it by connecting it to my computer by cable and to the modem/router wirelessly. Is there something that I can buy that I can connect to by cable that I can then connect to the modem/router wirelessly? I'm guessing some routers allow this and a router would be cheaper than a new computer. Of course my other option is to buy a new computer but I am trying to avoid that.
