I suggest you check dmesg for clues.Have you tried deactivating and (re) activating the group with the lvmchange command?
You ramble about lots of issues. Focus on specifics of what you tried and what error response you got, so folks maybe can advise yousecondly... have been using Synergy for several years as a KVM... with windows 10 I had to upgrade to the last version... going back to the 1.5 version (worked fine with Win7) is not an option as there are issues with the shift key... the main problem is I can't get the SSL to work... have had many emails with Symless that tend to be a one sided conversation so aside from an update at some point I do not expect any help from them... they include TLS 1.2 in their software .... previously to Win 10 the SSL worked fine and even in ver 1.5 on win 10 it worked ok.... just hoping someone may have a suggestion to get the SSL connecting between client and server or have heard of issues with win10 and SSL

I do also have a powered & non-powered 2TB external drive as well as an old DNS-323 NAS with mirrored 2 TB drives. I am open to suggestions on if you think the OptiPlex solution is a good one for what I am doing right now & say the next few years or if I would be better plumping for one of the $700 to $1000 solutions. If that route, what would be reasonable to invest in. There....that should do it.
