Hello Gustin, The zone file for the domain (mail, website, etc.) is located on this server. I have never seen this before, I have always seen it externally. The external WAN routing need to talk to the server to know what to do with mail.

Zone files are where Bind (and some other DNS servers) get their domain DNS info from. If you are migrating services to Windows, particularly Active Directory, you already have a DNS server and have no need to maintain zone files.
