Just wondering what kernal your running?

running uname -a on SolydK gave:
Linux mysolyd 3.11-2-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.11.10-1 (2013-12-04) x86_64
GNU/Linux
Seems to do OK for modern

on my workstation I get:
Linux myworkstationsname 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.57-3+deb7u1
x86_64 GNU/Linux
(Debian Stable)
