Greg

I am actually replying to your last msg. But I could not find your
personal email and I figure it is just fine to reply to the list because
I would want to do this anyways.

As you recall we brought in Richard for a talk at the UofC. This is
taped. I have the copies here. We have rights to copy and Richard
wants us to do it.

This was with CUUG, not CLUG but we are sister organizations.

I think what we should all do (both groups) as a project is put the talk
onto a DVD and offer it to the Calgary Public Library. At the same time
we should organise a section of books and DVDs on all aspects of the
programming and of the building of operating systems.

I have found the CPL has castrated their computers. I can't even send
an email to myself. But I know ways around this.

CUUG has a virtual library. I think this is a very good idea.

What I think we should do is organise some DVDs and put in a
"technology center" and spot this into the CPL system.

Some people browse. So maybe we put in place holders so that if the DVD
or book is borrowed then there is the place holder in place so browsers
know it exists and they can ask for it. I say: No holds barred. I
have been in contact with the CPL and asked for the Fynmam lectures on
physics as well.

The person at the CPL that I talked to can be found here:

gerry.burger-martind...@calgarypubliclibrary.com

But this was only for the Feynman lectures on physics.

If we ask for a meter of shelf space then we will need to fill it and
maintain it. I think we can do this.

Also I think this works 100% with the CUUG library system. Because
there... we have some books. They can be anywhere on anyone's
bookshelf. If someone else wants to borrow then they go to the virtual
Library admin and make arrangements and the book moves. Everyone knows
where the books are. It doesn't matter where the book lives. It just
matters that everyone knows.
