I assume (bad) that your mail is still at Google. I suggest you use the web interface Select all mail from the left hand column Select "all" in the box next to the Mail button and look for the line that is just to the right of it that asks if you want to select the total number of emails in your "All Mail" (it should give you the number of email). If you select that option - and then delete all the mail will be marked with the Trash Label. You can the use the search parameter in the search line at the top label:trash and delete them from there - or just go to trash.
If there is mail you wish to keep. Then try filtering using the search box You can search for just about any parameter and delete from there. here is a link to the parameters allowed https://support.google.com/mail/answer/7190?hl=en Good luck Oh another thought setup pop3 to Google in Thunderbird Mail with the delete from server parameter - you may have to go to setting in the Google account to allow all of this. This will dump the mail box onto your computer and remove it from the server. (backed up as well) - then dumb back what you need to keep at google. As the usual maxium of store for a Google Apps Mail account is 30 gig it may take some time to get the job done. I have used this method to move mail from one account to another.
