With Ubuntu 12.04, you might want to consider going with the 3.5 kernel
(the current default of new 12.04.x installs).

Also, I assume that this is a 32 bit install on a machine with more than 4
GiB of memory?  If not you probably do not need the PAE kernel (just the
generic should suffice).
