I think I'm in a catch 22 on this old puppy. Its running Debian Sarge with a 2.4 kernel and supports USB 1.1 (AFAIK) I have some Kingston data traveler USB sticks and they should be USB 2.0
WHen I plug them in the kernel sees them but says there is no device driver to handle it. I'd like to install the latest Ubuntu into a new computer. This machine does not have a CD nor FDD. The only way I can think of to boot it is perhaps a network boot which I have never done and failing that a USB boot which I cannot seem to create because my desktop doesn't recognize a USB memory stick. Some possibilities: 1) If I can find the right driver perhaps I can compile and install it. I'm not keen on this because the moment I get the new machine running I intend to retire this one. I'll mirror the HDD and stuff the old one in the bank vault for insurance. 2) Can someone create a bootable USB stick for me? 3) I have a mac in the house but its not mine and I don't know how to use it. 4) I have an OpenBSD server but I don't think I bothered installing a browser. I've never used the USB on it anyways. Other suggestions are welcome. _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list clug-talk@clug.ca http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
