Does Linux (in particular Ubuntu 10.10, using the Nvidia X Server proprietary driver) allow you to easily configure an external display device. What I'm thinking of here is the scenario where you show up to do a presentation and just plug a projector or large LCD panel in to a laptop that is already turned on hit a display switch hot key and start presenting. I do this in Windows all the time but I've been to enough CLUG and Protospace presentations to know that on Linux this always turns into a mess of X-Server restarts and plenty of tweaking config settings.
Is there any way to make that just work? Craig.
