Remove the nvidia driver. The Vanta uses the legacy driver anyway, so if you really wanted DRM (Direct Render Manager) you could install that driver. I believe it even exists in the non-free Debian repo (it likely has not changed in years).
For now remove the nvidia driver that you downloaded from their website. It causes more grief than it is worth unless you *know* that you need it and how to install it.
