Hi Ellen,

Sorry about that, it was my mistake understanding what you really wanted in
spell checking.

Open Office continued:

With spell checking selected,
I think there are two ways:

   - On the fly

   - Right click on the highlighted word and the suggestions appear?

   - Scroll to the word suggestion you want and click.

   - Or scroll to ignore, ignore all, add

   - I believe you can select installed languages on a per document or
paragraph basis [if you have any multilingual uses]

   - Using the ABC check mark (does the document)
      - The word you are working on shows up as not in dictionary
      - Suggestions show below that
      - Choices to the right are
         - Ignore Once
         - Ignore All
         - Add [be careful here not to add misspelled words to your
         dictionary]
         - Change
         - Change All
         - Auto Correct [I have never used this and do not know how to
         either]

   - You can look at or edit the dictionaries from Options near the bottom
   of the spelling box

If you are still having difficulty, it makes me wonder if you system has
everything installed properly?
Please let me know if this helps, or is just adding to your confusion?
