My wife has been running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 10.10 on her 8 GB EeePC
model from a couple years ago & she is very happy with it. I don't
think she has had many frustrations with it other then learning where
something is. But you would need to do that going from one version of
Windows to the other anyways. Previously she ran the standard Xandros.
I have Eeebuntu 3.0 (running xfce) on my 4GB EeePC & I enjoy it also.
The only I find frustrating with mine is the lack of space on the device
so it limits some stuff I can do.
