Hello. I suspect that Gnome would win because that is what gets installed on most corporate desktops. I've been in a few of Calgary's larger head offices and any place that is using LINUX seems to be using Gnome. If the GG&E department of even a mid size oil company goes this route that rapidly turns into hundreds of seats. If a super major goes that route (and a lot of them have) then it is tens of thousands seats.
The high tech industry is a different place where users get more choice.. For myself I've used and appreciated both. -----Original Message----- From: clug-talk-boun...@clug.ca [mailto:clug-talk-boun...@clug.ca] On Behalf Of William Astle Sent: March-23-10 8:31 PM To: CLUG General Subject: Re: [clug-talk] poll I use Gnome because I found KDE a bit too busy, as in I found it hard to find anything in the menus. I know I can customize all that stuff, but why take the time to do that when most GNOME schemes don't need it? I don't particularly like GNOME but it doesn't get in my way most of the time. I suppose I just dislike it less. I think you'll find it's a very personal choice. People dislike GNOME intensely and people dislike KDE intensely. Sometimes the same people. Personally, I suspect your informal poll is skewed in favour of KDE but is GNOME the majority? Perhaps, perhaps not. I think it would be difficult to get an accurate count. : robert-william : lewko wrote: > Guys, I just saw a comment on lwn.net.
