That is exactly what it is. I have deployed a few routerOS devices and they are solid. > themselves. That would mean that kernel updates may be slower than a > regular Linux distro. Well, it is an appliance, so unless you do an update, the kernel version does not change. IIRC the kernel versions tend to be newer than what you find in Debian/Stable > > What I want is a board that runs Linux and preferably Debian. Routerboard is similar to Soekris or PC Engines, except that the CPU architecture is different (and cheaper). Most Routerboard devices you can put whatever OS you want on them, as long as its supports the MIPS CPU. Having said that, this device may not be designed this this way and may be missing the needed the headers. For $40 I would not be surprised if they did away with the RS-232 headers. I personally use SBCs made by PC Engines as they are AMD Geodes so just about any x86 OS will work. http://www.xagyl.com/store/home.php?cat=249 It should be noted that I am not affiliated with Xagyl except as a happy customer. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iEYEARECAAYFAktXloIACgkQwRXgH3rKGfO5SQCfQTfampXLRrLKkToO8u5Vhlse b+AAoK63t420YqfVgnJ1qaPh/nWAb2je =8XlV -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
