APC model... everything I think... has USB monitoring now. Catch the event and start a watchdog. When the watchdog hits zero have it start shutting down systems. Shut the NAS down last.
Bonus points for doing this from the NAS because then the NAS can tell the UPS to turn itself off. > > My situation is different from most in that I power down stuff most of the > time, but I would like to implement a system were a NAS was cleanly > shutdown before the power is yanked. I have my NAS's set to spin down after 10min. So far so good. Just watch out for the Seagate & WD drives with the F/W bug where your drive dies if it spins up with exactly <some #> of errors in the log. I switched to the Samsung drives and those have been problem free so far. > Simon. > > > > _______________________________________________ > clug-talk mailing list > [email protected] > http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca > Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) > **Please remove these lines when replying _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
