Here's my contribution: 1) Choice & Control: You can choose the ditribution & application combinations that are best suited to your individual needs & if you can't find what you need, you can make your own. You don't have to rely on the features, release cycle, etc. that someone else tells you. Because of little or no DRM, licensing or other isssues that affect your enjoyment & the use of open standards, file format & protocols, you have the power to decide how, when & where to use your information. 2) Cost & Power: Free as in beer; free as in speech. You can install Linux on just about anything, from that old computer in the closet to the latest box from the store & it costs you relatively nothing. SUre, any OS will give you grief & will have it's little niggles in setting up some bit of hardware or software, but in a cost benefit analaysis, Linux will give you less hassle & more enjoyment per dollar. _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
