For what it is worth, if someone does find the stock Xandros distro on the EeePC's hard to use or whatever, they could also consider Easy Peasey (currently at 1.1). I just finished installing on my older 701 (4 GB) model and it ran sweetly & easily right out of the box.

The only issue I had was the sound & the webcam out of the box (haven't tested WiFi yet, but card is detected correctly), which are some of the more common issues I have seen on that alternative OS that is rapidly losing market share (currently under 90% & falling). A quick 5 minute Google & a trip into the BIOS & viola! Everything works fine! Even video files worked right away. I was going to test MP3's but couldn't find the player...but should not be an issue either.

The only thing I need to get used to is the interface, but I know that can be changed very easily. I am willing to give it a shot for a little while at least. Incidentally, OOo 3.0.1 & Firefox 3.0.8 are installed by default.

My .05 cents worth!

Oh, the irony!
A couple of weeks ago I raised this issue (y'll remember the whole Linux SUCKS...AND BLOWS incident). according to ASUSTEK (take it for what it's worth) customers were returning their Linux-based eee pc netbooks in droves because (wait for it) it was too hard to use. I got killed when I raised that point...I guess time does tell, don't it.

Well, it looks like you will have to build your own. No one i can find sells any computers with Linux on them, and many of the retail shops won't even order it if you asked for one. Sorry to brake your stride. More visibility in the public eye is the only way to go from here. If we stay quiet we die, and darkness takes over.
