Hey Jesse,
I don't know if this will help or not, but I heard of people convincing
Dell that they did not want Windows * MS Works installed on their
machines. Yes it was preloaded, but they provided enough proof that
they were not going to use it & in the end, Dell refunded them the cost
of the Windows & Works licenses which incidentally accounted for about
15% of the fee.
I am not suggesting that this will work with ASUSTEK, but perhaps you
could talk to them before spending the money & see what would be
required to accomplish that. Alternatively, if people "HAVE" been
returning them in droves, perhaps you could order one of those from
ASUSTEK as you are choosing Linux. Let them know you are voting with
your dollars. Perhaps they may be able to suggest a vendor somewhere in
Canada that could help you as well.
I realize all of this should not be necessary, but at least you will get
what YOU want in the end.
Hope that helps! Incidentally, if you do find out the information, pass
it along so people can maybe contact vendors, manufacturers, etc. & let
them know that there is indeed a market. I know I would write a letter
to them.

Can't seem to find any newer model Eee PC's with Linux in Vancouver
either. Does anyone know where to buy Eee PC's with Linux pre-loaded in
Canada? I refuse to pay the Microsoft tax.
Thanks,
Jesse

Looks like Memory Express is no longer selling Eee PC's with Linux
pre-installed. Is anyone still selling them locally?
