| I took a look at these things over the weekend and I guess I am still
| not quite sure about what I am doing.
|
| From the look at robogeo it seems as if there is an option to edit
| the metadata by adding the Lat/Lobg/Alt for the image and it adds it
| to the Exif information (or is it the IPTC).

| That seems straight forward enough in that app, but for xnview where
| woudl I go to add the same information? And how would I set it to
| open

Never used xnview, but KDE (konqueror and gwenview) have been able to do
the occasional exif edit that I have needed.

In imagemagick there is the exif command tool, there is also a bunch of
info and script ideas on the imagemagick site.

| a certain webiste... say google earth/maps. I have been playing with
| it

As far as I know, you can't do this directly from the image. I have
always used html to do this.

| but it doesn't seem overly clear to me to me...but that could be the
| lack of sleep and the medication.
|
| And I would imagine this is true as well..in order for that
| information to really do any good, the pictures would need to be
| posted online amd I right???
|
I believe that is generally the point. Of course "online" is vague and
does not necessarily mean publicly accessible.
