First, check the file permissions. Can you read the file? (obviously you can to some degree....) * First thing I did...no dice! I can see the headers for the table but cannot add records. Tried all of the different options available when creating it....still no joy! Second, check the database properties in Base - is there a read only setting there? (can't say fer sure cuz I typically use MySQL/PostgreSQL/MSSQL for my database needs - not native BASE.) * I wanted to try and emulate a "typical" puter user who is used to the "make everything simple for me" MS world where they may have just opened Access and poof! I know OOoBase can connect to other databases, but for the average user.. they may not know this. If you were connecting to an external database I would also suggest checking the permissions for the account you are using to connect. It could have Select permissions only. To add rows, you'd need select, insert/update, delete usually... * I wasn't trying to connect to an external db on this. I did create a spreadsheet with some information in it, but at this point I can't even see where I would be able to import from there. Hmmm one step at a time I guess Try opening base as Root and see if that clears up the problem (stretching here again...) * Nope Another thought - try moving the file to the local box. I know Writer doesn't like to open files it doesn't think are local... * Trie it.. no joy! Even tried creating a brand new db from scratch on the desktop...same results. _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
