Generally the P3 1000 small form factors that VFX was selling.  I
usually stuff as much RAM into them as I can (on the average 512MB)  I
have about a dozen in service.

advanced proxy, url filter, OpenVPN, Block out Traffic.  I also have my
own traffic shaping rules in place (the GUI interface is not granular
nor flexible enough).

Depends on the location and usage.   On the average I would say 512MB of
actual RAM.
