While this isn't a topic that I am personally interested in, I can see how it would be for others. > Dave has delegated me to handle the presentations in the upcoming period, > that is why i am responding in detail to presentation connected postings. Yes, I am aware of this Szemir, Sorry, I didn't mean to step on toes it just seemed like the list was pretty quiet and I thought something like this might bolster some support. Start the year off with a kick. > the Asterisk presentation is a natural after the voip, so i will be looking > for a presentation on Asterisk in March .... Good luck. As I said, I think it would go well. > I think the GPL presentation would be better after GPL V3 is finalized, > sometimes in Q2 as expected. Ah, yes. This makes good sense. I am hoping to hear good things about V3. > KDE stuff is allways welcome, specially from Aaron, i guess he is busy now, > but will be less so after the next release, a more better time to tell us > about the new and changed things, also to tell us about the new 3d engine / > api that looks really promising even after seeing the current one :-) Well, Aaron never fails to enlighten and entertain. Hopefully he will be available to do something for us. It would be nice if there were some other KDE guru willing to demonstrate to take some of the pressure of Aaron or just to provide a different point of view. > I think IpCop definitely deserves a good presentation, it has been quite > the time since we had a firewall or networking presentation. I have taken a look at some of the extra modules but haven't dabbled. I was pretty clear about what I would be comfortable in presenting. > GNUPG and Tellico, very intresting, specially the Tellico, did not know > about that one. I sent an email a while back regarding Tellico as I was looking for a good collection manager for my comic collection. Tellico fit the bill nicely and it appears to be easy to hack if you so desired. Of course KGPG is a good tool if you are using KDE. I did tack it onto the end of my last GPG presentation but yeah it makes life a little easier. The command-line stuff is dead simple though. I think KGPG's strength comes from the ability to handle encrypting and decrypting stuff, it's all there a click away. > GNUCash, and maybe even add sql-ledger is a big subject, i would wonder if > we could get an accountant , or someone familiar with accounting to shed > some more light of how these programs are meant to work. I am not prepared to go into SQL-ledger. It seemed pretty scary to me when Shawn presented it. GNUCash could be used for a small business I suppose but to me it's simply a personal finance manager like Quicken or Money. However, if you could convince the Edmontonian to come down an present SQL-ledger then more power to you. > I prefer doing the discussion here in talk, and do the boring detail in > private e-mail afterwords, regarding the subject, scope, blurb, etc ... > it is allways a good idea to have as many $.02 CAD added to the discussion > as possible. Agreed, hence why I was trying to promote a discussion on the topic of presentations. However, I do think it's nice to throw a free-form meeting in there to break things up a bit from time to time. That's my .02. > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > To: [email protected] > > Sent: Tue, 2 Jan 2007 13:10:42 -0700 > > Subject: [clug-talk] Presentation topics > > > > Hey All, > > > > Since we seem to be having some difficulty in getting presentations > > rolling, I thought I would start this thread now in advance of February's > > meeting (at least). > > > > As a follow-up to Simon's presentation on VoIP, I would love to see an > > Asterisk presentation.
